Compass is the corporate parent of Casting Technologies Company and operates a broad automotive platform that manufactures safety-critical aluminium and magnesium automotive components utilizing high pressure die casting, squeeze casting and proprietary VRC/PRCcasting process and machining operations in Michigan as a full- service supplier of metal components to the transportation and industrial industries; Magnesium Aluminum Corporation, a die cast manufacturer of aluminum and magnesium steering wheels, steering components, and airbag enclosures; and SRC, the leading North American manufacturer of magnesium flux, a refining agent used in the production of industrial aluminum and magnesium.

CTC has been given the 2004 Casting of the Year Award. The award was given to the company for the development of the control-arm for the BMW X5 SUV, 7- and 5-series and Rolls Royce. The control-arm is an important part of the steering, and contributes to the comfortable and precise handling BMW is known for.

The award was presented to the company by one of the world's most prestigious business associations for the industry, the American Foundry Society.

Die Casting ~ Cold Chamber Machines

Compass Automotive Group, Inc, a leading provider of aluminum and magnesium component solutions to car makers and Tier I automotive suppliers, recently announced that it has acquired the aluminum die casting and machining operations of Citation Corporation, a full-service supplier of metal components to the transportation and industrial industries. Compass will absorb the Citation business, located in Grand Rapids and Lowell, Michigan, into its current die cast operations, which produce highly engineered aluminum and magnesium components utilized in steering, engine, and safety systems for nearly every automaker in North America.
